Objectives
The project aims to ensure protection and support to refugees and asylum seekers including children and people with special needs held in places of detention and prisons in the governorates of Mount Lebanon, South and Bekaa. The project also seeks to improve detention conditions and access to justice for refugees, asylum-seekers, and stateless individuals.
The activities that SHEILD will implement during this project will complement each other and ensure better detention conditions, leading to the following results:
o Identifying persons of concern in detention and ensuring UNHCR access to detainees;
o Preventing refoulement;
o Addressing the needs of vulnerability or at-risk persons of concern in detention;
o Ensuring due process through legal assistance;
o Ensuring that the basic human rights and dignity are respected, especially to children and PwSN;
o Access to health services and medical assistance;
o Distribution of food and in-kind assistance.
